BVI Financial Services Commission User Guide No. 1 - Incorporating a Company Limited by Shares

Revised BVI Financial Services Commission User Guide No. 1 (Incorporating a Company Limited by Shares), published on 7 September 2007. One of a series of User Guides published by the Registry of Corporate Affairs providing general information on different aspects of the BVI Business Companies Act. The Guide should be read together with the Act.

The Guide covers the steps of incorporation of the company limited by shares, which is the most commonly formed company type in the BVI; also, information on fees for company incorporation.

The Act contains a number of requirements with respect to the names that may be used by companies, they are described more completely in the User Guide No. 2. Also, the incorporation and annual fees for a company that is authorised to issue bearer shares are significantly higher than those stated in the Guide No. 1.
